Indonesia: Training Advisor--MCH program
Responsibility: Provides technical advice and support to Program Management Team and national, regional and district governments on midwife training programs and outcomes for the anticipated DFAT/Indonesia MCH PERMATA program.
Relationships: The Training Advisor will be located within the project technical support team and will liaise closely with other technical staff and the Head of the Provincial Health Offices (PHO) and Health Training Institute (BAPELKES) in terms of task allocation. The Advisor will report to the Partnership Director in terms of performance management, and work closely with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and other local stakeholders at various levels of the healthcare system.
Tasks:
Work collaboratively with universities and training institutions (both local and foreign) to develop and implement in-service training programs for midwives and other health service providers at primary levelThe Advisor will work with technical support and M&E teams to collect appropriate baseline data, develop indicators related to quality of midwife education and experience, develop detailed implementation plans, and develop and implement on-going evaluation over the life of the projecBuild on past Australian AID and DFAT implemented projects in Indonesia by strengthening capacity building for midwives and other primary health workersThe position requires a competent and experienced person with the following attributes:
(A) Essential:
Post-graduate qualifications in maternal and neonatal health, public health or a related field5 to 8 years' experience in midwife training and teaching, including EMOC, at universities or training institutionsExtensive experience providing technical support related to midwife training to MCH or public health development projects in developing county contexts, preferably in AsiaStrong communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situationsFluency in English language(B) Preferable:
Indonesian languagePrevious experience working in Indonesian health sectorAn understanding of DFAT policies and cross-cutting issues
