Machinery Specialist


The Company:
an Oil Company is seeking a Machinery Specialist

The Role:
• To provide discipline expertise during the completions, pre-commissioning and commissioning work undertaken by the various Execution Contractors preparing systems for hand-over, including punch lsit closing.
• To provide the Commissioning Team with a technical assessment of mechanical equipment for the identified critical systems.
• To participate to the technical definition and preparation for the mechanical activities and be the focal point for the daily mechanical execution of the test plan, supporting the FPU Commissioning coordinator for the overall mechanical activities management.
• Provide Mechanical Engineering support to onshore and offshore project teams
• Develop Project commissioning and ready for start up procedures and guidelines for Mechanical
• Ensure that all Mechanical project tasks are carried out according to Company’s established policies, procedures and professional standards
• Ensure appropriate risk assessments are carried out for all Mechanical project activities, with particular attention to recognizing the impact of change.
• Progress all MOC (Management of Change)’s including gaining technical and budgetary approval and interfacing with facility and Project Engineering ensuring that all changes to equipment design, type or functions are controlled by application of applicable Company Management of Change procedure.
• Integral member of the pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up teams for the Offshore
• Ensure necessary HSE reviews are undertaken and identified actions completed
• Conduct design reviews for commissioning and start-up requirements.
• Attend F.A.T.’s agree results and actions.
• Contribute to the preparation of the Commissioning Contractor’s Plans and Procedures.
• Input to the commissioning preparation work (monitoring preservation, monitoring of mechanical
• completion and pre-commissioning activities, commissioning temporaries, etc).
• Endorse discipline specific formal Handover documents from contractors at Pre-commissioning completion stage confirming their acceptability.
• Ensure all necessary Indonesian Permits, Licenses and other Compliance requirements are in place prior to commencement of any commissioning activities
• To participate to the technical definition and preparation for the mechanical activities and be the focal point for the daily mechanical execution of the test plan, supporting the FPU Commissioning coordinator for the overall mechanical activities management.
• Supervise on daily basis the mechanical activities on critical machines performed by specialized contractors, and supporting the supervision of the personnel.
• Prepare and organize machineries functional test and provide experience for trouble shooting activities
• Ensure discipline input to an acceptable Formal Handovers to Operator has been made.
• Participate in and assist with the co-ordination of the Project’s performance test(s).
• Contribute to the Commissioning Group’s improvement process and close-out report
• Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with Client’s HSE policy, procedures and Safety Management System
• Comply with all relevant company HSE policies and procedures where appropriate
• Actively participate and support all company Health, Safety & Environmental plans, initiatives and improvements
• Report all accidents and incidents
• Carry out Emergency Response duties in accordance with company requirements, if required.
• Interface with Experimental Programme & Development divisions teams specialists;
• Liase with the Project Management Services Contractor;
• Liase with commissioning contractors, suppliers and consultants as required


Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree in an engineering/technical discipline (chemical, mechanical, electrical specialization)
• Fluent in English
• At least 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in both onshore and/or offshore facilities
• At least 5 years of experience in commissioning and start-up of oil and gas process facilities
• Professional competencies acquired in the commissioning of O&G Projects
• Good technical, communicational and working skills
• A team player with a flexible attitude to work scope.
• Ability to work unsupervised as required.
• Confident in management of interface with contractor and Vendor personnel
• Proactive approach to decision making and team works
• Organization ability in a multi-interface and technically demanding project
• Ability to work with, and train local staff
• Ability to adapt and respond to changes in ‘work-load’ and schedule demands
• Knowledge of the relevant industry codes of practice, standards and procedures
