Position Purpose
Cargo Carriers operates 1275 dry hopper barges, four barge fleets, three barge washing and repair yards, and a marine surveying business. This position works very closely with Cargo Carriers commercial and operation managers to add input on safety, personnel decisions, horsepower requirements, barge scrapings, barge and fleet utilization, and many other internal or external factors that impact the Cargo Carriers business. Additionally, this position will manage and lead efforts to maximize GOSCNA’s Gulf assets (elevators, barge and fleeting) by actively participating in meetings and logistics calls. This position attends two weekly meetings with the GOSCNA commercial team to help coordinate barge logistics to ensure the barge deliveries are in alignment with GOSCNA’s export vessel schedules. This timely coordination helps to reduce vessel demurrage penalties and increase vessel dispatch earnings. The position also acts as a liaison between the gulf export team in Louisiana, the gulf commercial team in Minneapolis, and the gulf fleeting and dispatching businesses in Minneapolis and Louisiana.

Responsible for all aspects of CCI River Services and Repair operations. (Reserve, LA, Edgard, LA Westwego, LA and Port Allen, LA,)

Responsible for of CCI line-haul operations as they relate to the Gulf and Intracoastal Waterways. This includes the oversight of the relationship between the Cargo Carriers dispatchers and the Cargill Salt Mines in Avery Island Louisiana, in which we supply between 1000-1200 barges on an annual basis for salt loadings.

Work closely with CCI Sales/Commercial, Dispatch, River Services and Cargill’s Export group to maximize asset utilization (elevator, barge and fleet) in the Gulf area by actively managing the barge pipeline to help ensure that the barge timings and placements are in alignment with both the vessel export team and the Cargo Carriers barge line. The successful coordination of this effort between these two teams will help each team meet their customer and financial goals by providing a timely service while allowing the flexibility for changing vessel and barge schedules.

Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree
4+ years experience in the Marine Industry and/or Marine Industry related field
Supervisory Experience
Ability to effectively communicate and lead teams
Familiar with bulk cargo export operations
Familiar with barge fleeting operations and regulations
Knowledge of Inland river system and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GICWW)
General work place/OSHA safety knowledge
Strong computer skills in spreadsheet, word processing, report creating and database applications
Preferred:
6+ years In the Marine Industry
4+ years of Barge Fleet and/or Line Haul experience
2+ years of Barge Fleet experience and/or Line Haul experience
Export grain, NOVA agency, and/or PNW or Gulf stevedoring experience
Strong knowledge of safety and accident prevention rules and regulations
Strong computer skills in spreadsheet, word processing, report creating and database applications
Crystal report writing ability
