Indonesia: INDONESIA ( & UK) | Outgoing Accountant for Disaster Relief & Community Dev. Org. | 6-8 Weeks

Our partner was founded in 2005, as a response to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, by which Indonesia was hugely affected. Their main focus is disaster relief, health and education within childhood and community development.

They deliver health and educations programme in 8 villages, and therefore have various field offices, with a central base in Bandung. Their projects around disaster relief come and go wherever necessary, with a recent focus being collaboration with other NGOs tending to volcano eruptions in Sumatra and West Java.

You will be the first AfID volunteer supporting the organization, and your role will be akin to undertaking a general assessment of their controls and processes, similar to an internal audit. You will identify any weaknesses in their system, recommending and implementing any changes you deem necessary. Every project has one member of staff working on the finances, who then report to the Bandung HQ. You will assist with making sure that the Bandung staffs is tracking everything clearly, and there could be scope for you to travel to the field offices and assist the project staff with their bookkeeping as well. The Executive Director is also planning to have an organisational audit in the spring of 2015, and they would appreciate your help in preparing for the audit.

You will also assist with creating a Finance Manual, and creating a 3-5 year strategy plan supporting by a budget.

Our partner would ideally like a volunteer around January-March for 6-8 Weeks.
