Description

The Department of German seeks qualified part-time instructors to teach elementary, intermediate and advanced Dutch language courses. Positions are part-time, renewable, non-tenure track, beginning as early as January 2015. The number of positions may vary from semester to semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding and performance. The initial review date for submissions for Spring 2015 is November 5, 2014, but the posting will remain open until October 30, 2016 to accommodate upcoming needs and new applicants. Applications received by November 5, 2014 will receive priority for Spring 2015; to receive full consideration, please submit all materials prior to this date.


Basic qualifications: Candidates should have at least one year of previous college teaching experience, and native or near-native fluency in Dutch and English at the time of application.


Additional qualifications include familiarity with college-level language programs, teaching experience using current language-teaching methodologies (task-based and meaning-based instruction, communicative language approach), and experience with technology tools to implement in the language classroom.


Preferred qualifications include expertise in Dutch linguistics and fluency in other languages of particular importance to the Dutch Studies program such as Afrikaans, Bahasa Indonesia, Papiamento, Sranan, German and/or French.


Successful candidates must, at a minimum, have a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Dutch or a related field by expected start date.


Beginning salary for lecturers is $49,012, but salary setting will be commensurate with education and experience.
