PURPOSE:
Perform and/or supervise moderately complex geophysics duties related to specific phases of larger projects (mine, development, or exploration) or works independently on all aspects of smaller projects.

Duties require the application of scientific knowledge and theory of global gold and copper deposits with latitude for independent judgement and decisions.

Geophysicists at this grade level must be able to complete the roles with minimal supervision.

Project geophysicists are not typically supervisors of staff, but depending on the project magnitude can be responsible for up to 6 technical and support staff on a short term basis.

Employees must comply with regulatory health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures, and the Company’s environmental compliance policy.

Employees will perform other duties as directed and needed by the Company to ensure optimal safe operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and the environment and the ability to work safely on a daily basis.

Provide mentoring and development of more inexperienced geoscientists.

Write comprehensive reports for review by senior management, joint venture partners and regulatory agencies.

Support “senior” or higher level geophysicist in providing geophysical expertise to exploration, near-mine, and in-mine geological teams.

Consult with geologists as a technical team member. Design geophysical exploration programs for gold and copper systems and set up contracts to get work done.

Perform geophysical activities essential to shallow mineral exploration, near-mine or in-mine programs in support of a project or mine team, including geophysical data acquisition, geophysical data processing and interpretation of geophysical data in conjunction with geological team members. Run in-house geophysical crews and monitor contract crews. Train junior level geophysicists and geologists.

Acquire, process, and interpret potential fields, electrical, and electromagnetic geophysical data applied to global gold and copper exploration, and write reports that recommend appropriate action to exploration, near-mine, and in-mine geological team members.

Introduction to managing junior geophysicists and projects. Train junior geophysicists and geologists.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Will work in mines, project sites, and/or greenfield exploration environments where conditions may be primitive and/or harsh at times. (Primitive/Harsh = surface or underground environments, hot to extreme cold, desert or tropical rain forest to tundra conditions, remote field camps, high mountain terrain, steep rough terrain, long distance and/or time to advanced medical care.)

Extended period from their home base may be required. Estimated time away ranges from 30-50% on a yearly basis.

Must be able to hold/operate a phone and radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation.

Must be able to drive a manual-speed, 4×4 vehicle and occasionally operate an all-terrain vehicle.

Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs of equipment and/or samples for distances up to five (5) miles (8 kilometers).

Qualifications

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science or M.S. degree in geophysics or related field with knowledge of mineral exploration geophysics and geological principles.

Typically has 5 to 7 years of industry experience in a mining or exploration environment.
