Position Overview:
The Designer is responsible for providing design leadership for UNIQLO’s Men’s Wovens category. The Designer will create and execute original and seasonal design concepts that focus on innovation, function, quality, style, and creativity. This position is part of UNIQLO’s Global Innovation and Design Team, and is based in our Global Innovation Center in New York.
Job Description:
Identify seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities and merchandise trends
Lead the design process through providing innovative ideas and developing new emerging concepts
Research new fabrics and techniques to drive innovation in the outerwear category.
Partner with the Sr. Design Director in executing design concepts within the seasonal calendar
Responsible for the technical package process, to include drawings through Illustrator, measurements and design detail specifications and hand off to Technical Design|Product Development
E xtensive travel for line adoption and sample development based on business needs
Work in an extremely fast paced environment meeting calendar deadlines.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s College Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience designing within the men’s category, preferably in men’s woven product
Advanced knowledge of current Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and Microsoft Office
Passionate about product, with a superb eye for detail
Basic technical understanding of apparel design, construction/fabrications, and fit
Ability to execute highly detailed Illustrator tech packs
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced/changing environment.
Proven ability to interpret trends and apply what is relevant to the brand
Exceptional illustration and sketching skills
Time Management Skills to manage workflow across multiple seasons while staying consistent with design direction and timelines
Excellent listening and communication skills
Ability and open to extensive travel based on business needs
