SUMMARY:
The Operations Engineer is responsible for the design and installation of projects, ongoing maintenance and reliability of capital, and management of the Operations and R&D capital budget. The Operations Engineer is responsible for deploying his/her engineering know-how to successfully execute and deliver projects to the business that have a sustained technical competitive advantage, create a safe work environment, deliver lean, continuous improvement, and sustainability initiatives, and meet business operations capacity and reliability requirements. This role will also be a key contributor to continuous improvement of the Cocoa Flavanol supply chain via process development projects. The Operations Engineer role requires strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support MSS objectives. Due to the start-up nature of MSS, this role supports both daily operations engineering needs as well as R&D process development needs.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Recognized expert for capital projects, maintenance, and reliability


  • Project Manage and ensure delivery of assigned capital projects for scope, time, budget, and cash flow.

  • Seek and apply appropriate technology to gain and a sustain technical competitive advantage

  • Manage and coordinate detailed design, installation, and start-up of new or existing plant machinery and systems. This will often include providing technical guidance and co-ordination of contract design and installation personnel.

  • Support process development efforts by testing and implementing alternative process approaches.

  • Lead CVS for all new products and equipment.

  • Support initiatives that shorten new product and project cycle times

  • Seek and support lean ways of working and apply lean principles in the engineering process and as a project deliverable

  • Understand and make decisions to improve business measurements such as FPG, ROTA, FATR etc.

  • Actively develop engineering standards and tools

  • Identify, protect and expand intellectual property of corporation

  • Maximize asset utilization through value added engineering and lean design

  • Actively plan and lead in project activities

  • Manages CAB budget and submissions for all GMD operations.

Quality Control Responsibilities


  • Train operators to interpret data (trend data, identify root cause, implement solution).

  • Train operators to formulate actions to address non-conformance issues.

  • Analyze and develop permanent solutions to prevent chronic or significant quality issues.

  • In-depth knowledge of quality systems and all work instructions for area. Provide input for improvements/changes to work instructions.

  • Oversee of quality or product conformance issues to ensure corrective/preventative actions are implemented and completed.

Safety Compliance


  • Devise safety measures for equipment and operation, then lead by example, enforce safety requirements, and ensure working conditions are following best practices.

  • Train operators on safe operating procedures.

  • Support SES for investigations into area of responsibility.

  • Partner with SES to develop and implement appropriate safety measures and training.

  • Provide input to project safety reviews.

Implement Continuous Improvement via innovative Process Development


  • Seek innovative solutions and develop step-function improvements including the use of new technology to achieve year on year cost savings and efficiency.

  • Help develop and validate improved process conditions for the unique CF supply chain, especially the proprietary CocoaPro process.

  • Technical resource for all capital equipment.

  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems that support key business objective, optimize processes, and reduce cost in all phases of the production process.

  • Provide input to feasibility and change management requests.

  • Owns Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA) compliance, resolution, and implementation for area.

Maintenance, Sanitation, and Reliability


  • Effectively manages the Maintenance and Reliability of the GMD site operations to complete PMs and deliver improvements for all operations areas.

  • Manages budget, SOPs, FDA 21 CFR Part 111 compliance for cleaning and HACCP procedures to deliver a quality and contamination free product.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT AND GUIDANCE:
The Operations Engineer has a working knowledge of all site specific policies such as FDA Dietary Supplement regulation 21 CFR part 111, Quality policy, Quality goals and objectives, safety policy, etc.


 The Operations Engineer sets the example for supporting site policies, dependability, responsibility, adaptability and appropriate conduct for a safe and productive working environment.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-6 years experience in an comparable technical position – food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable

  • Some travel which may include Indonesia, South America and other cocoa origin areas.
