Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in business or a technical field with at least 10 years of experience as a procurement and distribution manager or equivalent in an electronic and mechanical assembly manufacturing environment, involving a broad mix of product offerings. The position requires a high level of knowledge with domestic and international shipping and federal export compliance rules and regulations. Required computer abilities include a strong understanding and hands-on experience with modern ERP systems as related to procurement, material control, and distribution management, operating within a lean manufacturing environment. Extensive work experience using MS Word and MS Excel expertise is highly desirable. This individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a team-based environment across all levels of the organization, as well as with outside suppliers and customers. C.P.M., CPSM or APICS CPIM certification strongly preferred; Six Sigma certification is a plus. Familiarity with DBA Manufacturing software (ERP system) is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for management and individual contribution in the creation and execution of PO’s and contracts within the ERP system, as well as through non-ERP requisitions for certain non-production parts and services. Support Engineering purchases as needed. Properly structure and negotiate subcontracts with contract manufacturers, such as turnkey PCBA assembly houses. Supervise and ensure the efficient and timely flow of material through the receiving, stocking, and shipping processes while minimizing physical, paperwork, and transactional errors. Promptly resolve receiving and other transactional discrepancies and keep Finance informed of pending issues and their resolution. Work closely with Sales to ensure accuracy and completeness of paperwork and other requirements necessary for international shipments. Provide strong leadership to the procurement function, focusing on timely ordering of material, purchased parts cost and lead time reduction, new vendor sourcing, and development of the supplier base. Review of MRP reports to ensure accurate and timely identification of material requirements. Participate in daily production meetings and be prepared with latest information regarding parts shortages and upcoming deliveries of key material such as PCBAs, machined parts, and connectors. Monitor discrepant material affecting the production schedule. Participate in MRB meetings, execute MRB material disposition instructions, perform ERP system transactions to account for discrepant material, and distribute/coordinate supplier notification and corrective action documents to vendors as needed. Manage the replenishment process for non-MRP production material, such as “free stock”. Manage inventory accounting and reporting to the company. Lead and perform monthly, quarterly and annual cycle count of stock as required. Coordinate implementation of ECO’s that affect material on order or on hand at vendors. Negotiate supplier contracts to obtain best pricing and establish long-term PO’s where appropriate and cost effective. Manage and develop productive relationships with suppliers, including onsite visits for local vendors. Apply expertise in procuring PCB’s, fabricated items (including machining, anodizing, and laser etching), electronic commodities (passive and active components), cable assemblies, outsourced battery packs, and process/MRO materials to support production. Work closely with key suppliers to reduce their lead times, control pricing, and continuously improve quality. Develop and maintain key performance indicators for all areas of responsibility. Assume role and responsibility as the company’s Export Compliance Manager. Understand transactional and basic accounting principles and work closely with Finance to investigate and resolve invoice/PO, inventory, and other materials-related cost and/or transaction-based discrepancies. Be able to read blueprints, manufacturer’s data sheets, fabrication and assembly drawings. Demonstrate a hands-on approach and an ability to work effectively in a team-based environment across all levels of the organization. Perform other related duties as assigned.
