Senior Director of Business Development - NY - Change.org - United States

Change.org is the world’s largest technology platform for social change. Our goal is to empower people everywhere to start campaigns around the issues they care about, mobilize others, and work with decision makers to drive solutions.

We’re also an innovative business – a “social enterprise” and a certified B Corporation, with a business model designed to support positive social impact (more about B Corps: www.bcorporation.net).

Over 100 million people have signed petitions, and our users win nearly one victory per hour, including strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa; fighting corruption in Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil; ending the ban on gay Boy Scouts in the United States, and big wins for women’s rights in India. And we’re just getting started. Here’s a small snapshot of why some of the 100 million people have signed Change.org petitions: youtu.be/UcT1rgZDko4

We love serving our incredible users, and we love our staff too. We show it with very competitive salaries, five weeks of vacation, robust maternity and parental leave, an amazing culture, free language training (if you want it), and a high impact, low-ego team that can’t wait to learn from you and teach you what they know.

We’re seeking a proven, strategic and inspiring leader to be our next Senior Director of Business Development that will lead the growing New York based sales team and their expanding portfolio of non profit, political and corporate advocacy clients. This team leader will draw on their strong sales management experience and expertise in relationship-driven business development to drive short and long-term revenue growth in the Northeastern U.S. region. You will help architect the regional sales strategy, lead in its implementation, and drive execution to achieve aggressive revenue goals. Most importantly you will hire, develop and inspire the New York regional sellers to create a powerhouse team that will surpass revenue goals and continually exceed expectations.

The Senior Director of Business Development will report to the company’s Managing Director of Global Sales and will be a member of the Global Sales Leadership Team.

As a leader of the New York based sales team you will work alongside incredibly talented individuals across our broader Business Development team as well as our Campaigns, Communications, Marketing and Product teams to empower people everywhere to see the change they want to see. You will be at the intersection of a mission-driven B Corp, tens of millions of changemakers and hundreds of the world’s leading social change organizations. This is the rare sales leader job where you actually feel proud to tell your family and friends about what you do everyday.

Here’s what you’ll do as part of our team:
Hire, train, develop and inspire the New York based sales team comprised of Associates, Managers and Directors.

Coach your team in effective sales strategies, pipeline management, opportunity management and career planning.

Improve ongoing sales education programs and ensure all team members have clearly defined development priorities and career paths.

Help grow and maintain a healthy client ecosystem to drive sales, platform adoption and the successful adoption of our services to clients and agencies in the region.

Ensure the team deeply understands the social good market and provides expert advice and guidance to all clients.

Oversee territory expansion for the Northeast U.S. region and identify key opportunities and areas for growth.

Work with the Product team to ensure that product development roadmaps meet the needs of the NYC region.

Be full of optimism about the positive change you will be bringing to the world around you. And here are the skills & experience we hope you have:

A proven track-record of 3-5+ years of successfully leading a team to deliver on revenue goals, preferably in a digital content/digital publisher sales environment.

Experience managing and accelerating complex sales cycles with C-level decision makers.

Commitment to a mission of social good.

Track-record of consistently achieving quota and strategic objectives .

Experience with Salesforce.com.

Bachelor Degree/College Diploma.

Experience with taking fun seriously; and cheering up your teammates when they need some positive encouragement; you naturally understand that work isn’t work when you love what you do.

The position is full-time and based in our lovely new New York City office.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, physical disability, or length of time spent unemployed.

We are working for a world where no one is powerless, and where creating change is a part of everyday life. We’re just getting started, and we hope you’ll join us.
