The Sr. Director of Planning & Strategy leads the coordination of current and future-focused business strategy and planning approaches to positively affect business results. This role is a key strategic navigator with the Takeda Oncology Business Unit (OBU) and ensures alignment across the 7 BU countries and the Global Commercial Team’s strategic business planning approach. This position reports to the VP Planning and Strategy. The role is directly responsible for the design, recommendation, reporting, tracking and organization of integrated strategies and planning (performance dashboards, monthly reports, tools for operational units, OBU management team meetings and planning) as well as future-focused capability assessment and strategy across the OBU.


Key Responsibilities Include:
Strategic OBU Planning: Drives the implementation of strategic BU planning (MRP and Annual Planning, business monitoring, trend analysis etc…) process aligned around insights enabling development of plans for each country and the global BU. Makes recommendation to management on key trend analysis and strategic plans recommendations to enhance the OBU capabilities and operations. Lead and ensure execution of complex market landscape analytics to drive strategic recommendations


BU operation model: Drive the design and support the implementation of integrated BU operating model and operating principles, works with critical cross functional groups to enhance the operations of the OBU (IT, finance, etc…). Designs in partnership with functional working principles approaches (team structure, ways of working, communication, identification and alignment of gaps based on top commercial priorities).


Plans and coordinates OBU management team, business reviews with countries and other leadership meetings. Serve as the secretary of the BU management team, including coordination of interaction, business reviews, and meeting conduct (logistics, agendas, and minutes, tracking of key action items and recommendation of actions/implications).


Lead specific strategic projects that go beyond the OBU scope with Takeda Corporate as needed (ie digital excellence initiatives)


May include other duties as assigned


Leadership

Partners with all departments of the OBU (sales, marketing, medical affairs, finance, legal, corporate communication, country BU leaders, President’s direct reports, business development) and the Oncology R&D organization to ensure a smooth coordination of strategic planning to timely implementation.

Demonstrate the ability to influence and lead cross-functional leaders through strategic planning initiatives to enhance BU performance, including R&D, Business Development.

Develops and maintains strong working relationships with key internal partners identified above

Able to manage and coach direct report Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:


Basic:
Bachelors degree required. Scientific degree preferred


MBA degree preferred


10+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical commercial business or relevant analog area.


Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry trends. Requires proven experience and understanding of Sales and Marketing in various pharmaceutical market, such as Japan, US or EU, Brazil, Indonesia.


Proven ability to lead in a complex matrix environment with and without direct authority. The position requires very strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, analytical capabilities (including financial), leadership skills, and the ability manage and drive multiple projects


Ability to influence senior commercial leaders and clearly articulate strategic objectives.


Proven program and process management skills to successfully implement complex business initiatives.


Ability to embraces the ideas of others, nurtures innovation and manages innovation to reality


30%+ travel required
