Duties require the application of scientific knowledge and theory with limited latitude for independent judgement and decisions. Participate in a team (Mine, development, or exploration) by performing routine and straightforward geological duties related to specific parts or minor phases of a program, project or mine. Employees will perform other duties as directed and needed by the Company to ensure optimal safe operation. Activities are defined with supervisor guidance before releasing to sole responsibility. Geoscientists at this grade level must be able to complete the roles with minor supervision. Essential job duties include:

Perform geophysical activities essential to exploration, near mine or in mine programs in support of a project or mine team, including geophysical data acquisition, geophysical data processing and interpretation of geophysical data in conjunction with geological team members. Run in house geophysical crews and monitor contract crews. Train junior level geophysicists and geologists

Support “project” or higher level geophysicist in providing geophysical expertise to exploration, near mine or in mine geological teams

Perform geologic activities essential to production, development, and/or exploration programs in support of a project or mine, including geologic mapping, daily drill rig visits, geologic computer modeling (GIS, Meds, Vulcan, Geomodel, etc.), and project peer reviews

compile raw data into comprehensive reports for review by senior management, joint venture partners and/or regulatory agencies

collect, compile and analyze production, development, and exploration data and results. Recommend appropriate action

Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and the environment and the ability to work safely on a daily basis

Acquire, process and interpret geophysical data and write reports that recommend appropriate action to exploration, near mine and in mine geological team members

collect geochemical samples according to defined best practices, including collection and recording of field observations and supervision of contract samplers

Perform data entry and database management functions as necessary

Perform field sample preparation and shipping, as instructed

Analyze and interpret geochemical data resulting in report

Qualifications

BS degree in Geology (MS preferred)

Minimum of two years of industry experience in a mining or exploration environment with supervisory experience a plus.

Will work in mines, project sites, and/or greenfield exploration environments where conditions may be primitive and/or harsh at times. (Primitive/Harsh = surface or underground environments, hot to extreme cold, desert or tropical rain forst to tundra conditions, remote field camps, high mountain terrain, steep rough terrain, long distance and/or time to advanced medical care.)

Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment and/or samples for distances up to five (5) miles (8 kilometers).

Must be able to hold/operate a phone and radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation

Must be able to drive a manual speed, 4×4 vehicle and occasionally operate an all-terrain vehicle
