Production Supervisor II - Cargill - Cedar Rapids, IA

Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Prep and Extraction departments at the
West Soy Bean Plant in Cedar Rapids, IA
. This role will supervise all aspects of the operation, including, but not limited to: safety, production, environmental, quality, costs and supervision of hourly production employees.
Principal Accountabilities
:
30% – Engaged Employees: Daily supervision of department employees. Develop a strong culture of accountability where employees are motivated to contribute their ideas and efforts through flawless execution of Cargill’s people processes, including Performance Management, Development, Compensation, etc.
30% – Operational Excellence: Review, monitor and follow-up on area results. Increase the capability of the operating team through implementation of operator training and qualification. Improve plant reliability by championing operator care and reliability excellence initiatives. Collecting and reviewing department data, managing department cost to remain within operating budget, guidelines, troubleshooting production and quality issues, safety etc. Develop and maintain area budget. Interact with customers and commercial teams.
30% – EH&S, Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Drive a 0 injury safety culture by ensuring individual accountability for safety and effective utilization of Cargill safe work policies. Ensure compliance with Cargill, federal, state and local EH&S regulations. Responsible for EH&S performance including training, EH&S Audit Compliance, Food Safety procedures and training.
10% – Projects: Complete projects aimed at improving safety, reliability, production, and efficiency.

Qualifications
Required:
– Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical science discipline OR, if no degree, 4+ years manufacturing experience with a high school diploma
– In addition to above, 3+ years production supervision or engineering experience
– General knowledge of production management with understanding of plant processes and plant operational needs.
– Basic knowledge of OSHA and Food Safety regulations and requirements.
– Demonstrated skills of team building, conflict resolution, innovation and change within the workforce.
– Effective communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills across multiple levels of an organization.
– Keen sense of time management and prioritization skills.
– Ability to supervise area that operates on a 24/7 schedule.
Preferred:
– Experience leading and influencing change
– Experience managing, developing and coaching personnel and teams
