Purpose:
Conduct economic evaluations of investment alternatives within Newmont’s capital projects portfolio to determine which alternatives have the best economic and strategic fit for the company. Apply valuation methods that are consistent with Newmont’s standards.


Analyze the impacts that investment alternatives will have on business and strategic plans.


Using the Company’s portfolio tools, analyze the business and portfolio impacts of various strategic alternatives to support senior management decision making around a full range strategic scenarios.


Essential Duties:
Utilize existing economic models & tools and assist with the development of economic models that quantify net present value and rate of return of incremental after-tax cash flows related to specific internal and external investment alternatives.


Support Director & above leaders and other cross functional teams to present coordinated results for investment alternative reviews with the Executive Leadership Team.


Contribute to the process of determining the strategic fit of a project or investment opportunity and assist with presenting this analysis to relevant stakeholders.


Produce key performance metrics and analytics investment opportunities and strategic alternatives that enable a standardized rating and ranking against other alternatives in Newmont’s investment portfolio.


Capable user of specialized analytical tools, including simulations, scenario analysis, portfolio mgmt, rate and rank and risks and opportunities assessment tools.


Apply tools used in internal and external benchmarking analysis related to key assumptions and parameters used in the economic and portfolio models.


Supports the process of managing through influence across the organization and bridge the needs of multiple stakeholders, including regional leadership, project teams and corporate functions.


Supports the effort of collaborating with technical and business functions to ensure that sources used in economic and portfolio models are based on appropriate assumptions that conform to current planning guidance.


Provides support on investment decisions by developing an investment thesis that clearly articulates the fundamental strategic and economic rationale.


Collaborate with other functions and employees to increase business acumen and focus across company and functions; create, plan and manage and execute stakeholder and communication plans, as needed.


Assist in the implementation of global standards, tools and practices of economic & portfolio evaluations.


Effectively communicate analytical results and methods to personnel at all levels of the organization both verbally and in written formats.


Performing QA/QC of their work to minimize oversight.


Demonstrates originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and resolution of problems.


Subject Matter Expert for the department’s analytical tools.


Supports and understands critical financial & regulatory reporting systems & requirements.


Effectively and professionally communicate with all stakeholders, including external stakeholders when applicable, both verbally and in written format.


Attend discussions with high-ranking employees of external parties.

Qualifications


Working Conditions:
Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.


Position may be required to work in a mining environment on a temporary basis.


Training & Exerperience:
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Mining related technical degree.


Minimum 5-7 years of combined relevant experience in mining and financial work


Ability to efficiently and effectively evaluate and prioritize tasks.


Self-motivated, dynamic, diplomatic and results oriented.


Excellent communication/presentation skills, both written and verbal.


Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels within the organization.


Good understanding of financial accounting, tax, capital budgeting and portfolio analysis


Ability to do complex analytical work at a tactical level
