Hardware Design Engineer...

Immediate start for several Hardware Design Engineers to work as part of the product development team, producing new signal acquisition and FPGA processing products for the latest systems.

The successful candidate will use their skills in digital and analogue electronics, ideally in connection with radar, radio or communications markets.

Our clients products are low volume and specialised and ownership of the design from requirements through to manufacture is a key part of the role.

The ability to interpret requirements and develop high-quality products on time, to write good quality project and user documentation and to work as part of a team with other hardware, HDL, software and mechanical engineers is necessary.

The successful applicant will be adaptive and open minded to new skills and approaches, able to work on own initiative and as part of a small project team. Problem solving abilities to address complex hardware/HDL/software interactions are also a must.

Knowledge and experience in the following technical skills are required for this role:


Mixed analogue/digital board developmentA to D and D to A convertors ( TO Gb/s sample rates)High-speed digital signal integrity techniques (3Gbit/sec+)High speed (VPX,PMC,XMC or FMC board designComplex high technology PCB design, stackup and alternative materials.Switch mode power supply designMentor design tools for schematic capture (DxDesigner)Environmental testing and qualification proceduresDesign for Test in low volume conteract manufacturing (e.g. JTAG testing)Understanding of underlying hardware failure modes on FPGA boardsRadar, SigInt and/or communication system designFPGA development (prefer Xilinx and VHDL)

You will be technically aware and keen to learn new skills, have the ability to make sound judgements with excellent organisational skills.

Education to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering based subject is required.
