Web designer for improvements to I-Fish website
Job Description
The Indonesian Fisheries Information System, I-Fish, was developed in 2012 with support from IMACS and USAID. I-Fish is an online database system, storing data collected from small-scale port sampling activities across eastern Indonesia. In 2012 data collection activities began in one site and has expanded to 10 sites across eastern Indonesia in recent years. The number and variety of users accessing I-Fish data has also increased over the years, with users from non-governmental organisations, government, research and processors having access to different levels of data. However, as the activity on the ground has developed, the I-Fish website has largely remained the same. New features have been added, such as a library and resource section and the website is now in need of a redesign to make it more accessible and user-friendly to the increased user traffic.
MDPI is looking for an experienced web designer to redesign the I-Fish website. The suggested tasks include (but are not limited to):
– Update of general design
– Creation of data exploration dashboards
– Organising menu and tabs for easier access to information
– Creating user log-in and sign-up area, member profiles
– Improve layout of forum and ease of use
– Provide a Standard Operating Procedure for making adjustments to the website layout and design
– Provide a Standard Operating Procedure for maintaining an online forum, dealing with bots, etc.
– Provide a guide with tips for good website maintenance.
The web designer will work closely with the Research Development Manager and the Database Programmer.
