Job Description


Job Summary:


The Terrestrial Program Director is a senior level position that has strong technical and management responsibility for the CI Indonesia portfolio on conservation and development program encompassing biodiversity, forestry, climate change and green economic development. The Director Leads science based strategic planning and program development, policy engagement with government counterparts, as well as program implementation of policy objectives and partnerships. The Director plays and oversees national policy works related to climate change mitigation and adaptation in forest/biodiversity conservation management and also CI’s terrestrial program strategies such as the sustainable landscape partnership program (SLP)


Responsibilities:


Project Development and Implementation. Provide technical support to existing carbon projects within the region and ensure that project results meet CI and project donor quality standards and expectations and that these projects are progressing on schedule.


Policy Development. Ensure legal and policy feasibility assessments are completed for SLP and related programs.


Capacity Building and Partnership. Facilitate and train CI-I Sumatra and Papua program managers and other CI-I senior staff to develop and maintain transparent advisory partnerships governments and relations with local private sector and civil society partners on aspects related to climate change initiatives and carbon projects.


Assist in coordinating multidisciplinary and team approach to implementing terrestrial programs with climate change, improved livelihoods, private sector engagement, and biodiversity conservation components. Communicate climate change program outcomes and implementation, evaluation, and adjustment needs and support CI-I terrestrial program Senior Management Team (SMT) and their direct reports and provide leadership needed to work together as a team to achieve them.


Actively involved in fundraising, strategic planning, partnerships, liaison with other agencies and partners. Periodically review available literature and other sources of information, including global and region specific materials, and keep CI-I offices informed of trends and issues related to climate change in the region/sub-region.


How to Apply


Minimum Required Qualifications:


• MSc. in Environmental management or similar qualification

• At least 10 years terrestrial field experience managing and advising on community-based conservation programs in Indonesia, including research throughout Indonesia’s 3 Bio- geographical regions.

• Experience with analysis of climate change scenarios and related climate change impacts on human communities and tropical ecosystems.

• Extensive networking experience with donors, central, provincial, government agencies and alliance building and institutional networking

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English
