Television Production Specialist (Indonesian) - Department Of Commerce - Washington, DC

This position is located at the Voice of America in the East Asia and

Pacific Division, Indonesian Service in Washington, DC. The incumbent

serves as a Television Production Specialist and is responsible for

producing television programs and other special projects for the

Service.

The Broadcasting Board of Governors is conveniently located within walking distance to the Green, Yellow, Orange and Blue Metro lines.

The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an

independent federal agency, is an exciting, multi cultural organization that

encompasses all U.S. civilian international broadcasting. The BBG is comprised five

networks broadcasting in 61 languages including the Voice of America, the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV

Marti), and three grantee organizations – Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty; the

Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), and Radio Free

Asia along with the International Broadcasting Bureau which provides

transmission, administrative, and other support services; and three grantee

organizations. Our staff of dedicated professionals serves as an example of a

free and independent media, reaching a worldwide audience of 215 million people

–Conceptualizes, designs and creates original Indonesian-language TV

news segments and/or programs. Works in the field regularly as a

television journalist doing original research and news reporting.


–Plans

and synthesizes multiple sources of information, sound bites,

interviews, video clips and still into a broadcast ready television

story.


–Organizes detailed and various production elements using digital media systems such as DaletPlus.


–Plans

and performs final cuts and edits on story packages on PC-based and/or

Mac-based systems and laptops resulting in news packages with VOA

editorial style standards and broadcast visual and audiomix standards.


–Reports,

writes, edits and produces original Indonesian-language news content

for television targeted to audiences and affiliates in Indonesia.


–Conducts

in-depth interviews of newmakers and other important stories that can

be used in television, radio and online programming and/or produced for

VOA-wide house release.


–Keeps abreast of the media climate in Indonesia to ensure competitiveness of TV programming in the marketplace. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top


Basic Qualifications: Applicants must

have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower

grade level, GS-11, which is

directly related to this line of work AND must have the ability to read,

write and speak in Indonesian and English languages.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant

with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully

perform the duties of the position. Examples of such experience include

all aspects of producing live or taped national and world news,

informational reports, human interest stories, and/or popular culture

stories using state-of-the-art techniques and production technology

including digital video recording equipment, digital video editing and

graphics software, etc., in a way that appeals to the Indonesian

audience.
