Project Development Manager & Technical Consultants - SE Asia



Our client is one of the largest power sector consultancy and engineering companies in the world with about 1,500 power sector people working in 20 offices around the world. In South East Asia they one of the market leaders in the power sector offering consulting and engineering services for thermal and renewable energy power plants, and have offices in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.


In line with their increasing business, our client is seeking to recruit a Manager – Project Development & Technical Consulting located in their Indonesian Office and a Technical Consultant to be located in their Thailand Office for their coal and gas-fired power projects in South East Asia.


Candidates should have at least 5-10 year’s work experience within power utilities, independent power producers, equipment suppliers, consultancy or engineering companies.


The scope of work will include the following:



  • Preparation and management of power plant conceptual design studies, feasibility studies, lenders engineer and independent engineer projects, also technical due diligence assessments for acquisition of power plants




  • Management of EPC tendering projects, negotiations with EPC contractors, IPP bidding projects, PPA negotiations and power project development in general




  • Management of various other technical consulting assignments




  • Preparation of reports for the clients as required and coordinating the internal report preparation process




  • For interested candidates, business development, proposal preparation and consulting contract negotiation can be included in the scope of work


    Much of the work involves writing reports in English language, so excellent English language skill is a must. The job includes occasional trips to other SE-Asian countries, so willingness to travel on short-term assignments is expected.


    The qualifications and requirements for the position are:




  • Higher professional degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, energy economics, or other field relevant for power sector projects (M.Sc. or B.Sc.)




  • Minimum of five to ten years professional experience from power sector




  • Fluent in English




  • Good skills in report writing




  • Good skills in Microsoft Word and Excel computer programs
