TITLE: Development and Communications Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development and Communications Assistant reports to the Director of Development and Communications and serves a key role in the organization, liaising with both internal staff and external stakeholders while supporting development and communications activities crucial to institutional advancement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters
- Manage the Blackbaud e-Tapestry donor database and create reports as needed
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective donors
- Coordinate appeal letter production and mailing
- Coordinate administrative details for board meetings and functions
- Coordinate details for fund-raising events
- Coordinate grants administration
- Provide support on other projects as required
Communications
- In collaboration with the Director of Development and Communications and the Social Media Coordinator, create and implement an annual calendar of communications activity
- Maintain EII website, updating content as needed
- Coordinate outside contractors on website maintenance as needed
- Coordinate email marketing communications
- Coordinate production of marketing collateral materials
- Provide support on other projects as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum two years experience providing fundraising or communications support, preferably in the non-profit sector
- Ability to think creatively and write persuasively
- Capable of dealing with confidential matters and using sound judgment
- Highly organized, flexible; detail-oriented; able to balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines and anticipate needs; professional demeanor
- Able to work effectively with individuals from a variety of disciplines, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Experience living or working in a developing country desired
- Proficiency in WordPress and Microsoft Office Suite required, experience with HTML, PowerPoint, InDesign, MailChimp or Contstant Contact and CRM databases preferred.
- Able to work evenings and weekends and travel as needed.
Location: This is a full-time position based in San Francisco.
Compensation: Competitive, dependent upon experience. This is a full-time exempt position
