Elevator Supervisor job - Cargill - Wichita, KS

Close cooperation with our Trade and Structured Finance business unit, and the company’s risk management teams adds a further range of financial and hedging products to the products and services offered.


As the Elevator Supervisor based out of our soybean processing plant in Wichita, KS, you will provide technical knowledge expertise, operations experience and utilize management skills as the first line supervisory presence for the Elevator Operators and Loadout Operators, including direction, work prioritization, maximizing efficiencies, customer solutions and service within applicable government regulations and Cargill policies.


Principal Accountabilities:


30% – Leads employee daily work assignments

• Organize plans and manage safety, product safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, time delivery, costs and environmental aspects of a crush process.

20% – Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Activities

• Assist with facility EH&S activities

• Operate facility within Cargill safety policies/procedures and government safety regulations

• Lead employees to work productively without compromising safety

• Lead safety meetings and ensure they are completed as required within established timeframes

15% – Inventory Management

• Responsible for grain condition and inventory management, including quality monitoring, temperature monitoring, quantity of grain stocks to maintain accurate shrink/gain

• Assist in leading plant logistics

15% – Maintenance & Reliability

• Lead reliability efforts and scheduling for the elevator and Loadout areas

• Assist in reliability based maintenance program

• On-site monitoring of contractor activities, including safety and installation within specifications

• Work to control repair and maintenance expenses to stay within budget

10% – Project Work

• Lead capital planning for elevator and Loadout areas

• Complete projects as assigned while maintaining accurate budget and schedule

10% – Miscellaneous

• Ensure plant housekeeping program is adhered to and all weekly housekeeping reports are completed

• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Degree OR 3 or more years of production or operations management, including supervision, crew leadership, or coordination or equivalent and completion of secondary level education

• Advanced computer skills utilizing Microsoft programs, Outlook, Word, Excel and being able to learn computer software programs such as maintenance database (i.e. SAP) and Project database software

• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (maintenance, sales, logistics, accounting), contractors, suppliers, inspectors and customers) and to develop staff accountability

• Proven performance and the ability to apply policies and procedures in the areas of safety, environmental, health and food safety

• Ability to take off-hour calls and rotate on call

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak candidly and provide constructive feedback

• Demonstrated ability to coach others for high performance and high engagement; motivates, inspires, and engages others to excel and work towards the vision

• Must be able to manage priorities; sees what needs to be done, assesses degree of urgency and importance, and takes appropriate action in managing multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines in a highly dynamic environment

• Strong understanding of sanitation, food handling, & personal safety practices

• Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in the USA on a non-temporary basis

Preferred Qualifications:

Solid understanding of the underlying GOSCNA business
