Local Expert/Consultant for Pole&Line Tuna

The SECO funded, UNIDO executed programme seeks to appoint a Local expert for the implementation of programme activities in the Pole&Line Tuna value chain. This Programme aims at strengthening the trade capacity of selected value chains of the Indonesian fisheries export sector, while ensuring the preservation of biodiversity through promoting the sustainable use of maritime resources. The main duties for this position include the following:

The local expert is expected to carry out the following duties:

– Providing technical expertise to support the implementation of the programme activities in the P&L value chain,

– Assisting the international expert,

– Working closely with the programme partners, liaise with and mobilize local stakeholders.

– The expert is specifically expected to carry out different activities relating to the components: Public-Private Roundtable dialogues “Establishment of traceability systems” and “Support Sustainability Certification” of the programme.

Minimum Qualifications

– The expert should have a university degree in fisheries or other relevant

discipline, preferably with a specialization in capture fisheries, resource

management or processing and project cycle management.

– A minimum of 5 years practical experience in the field of tuna fisheries

particularly in P&L and hand line tuna fisheries;

– Formal training in resource management, post-harvest and processing;

through understanding of P&L and line tuna fisheries context in

Indonesia, and experience working with government institutions and

international or non-governmental organizations supporting sustainability

work in the fisheries sector; familiarity with traceability and Eco-labelling; strong communication skills, and ability to liaise with various stakeholders,

including government officials.
