Local Expert/Consultant for Seaweed Value Chain

The SECO funded, UNIDO executed programme seeks to appoint a local expert for the implementation of programme activities in the Pangasius value chain. This Programme aims at strengthening the trade capacity of selected value chains of the Indonesian fisheries export sector, while ensuring the preservation of biodiversity through promoting the sustainable use of maritime resources.

The local expert is expected to carry out the following duties:

– Providing technical expertise to support the implementation of the programme activities in the seaweed value chain;

– Assisting the international expert;

– Working closely with the programme partners, liaise with and mobilize local stakeholders.

– The expert is also specifically expected to carry out different activities relating to the components: Public-private roundtable dialogue “Establishment of traceability systems” and “Support Sustainability Certification” of the programme.

Minimum Qualifications

– The expert should have a university degree in fisheries or other relevant discipline, preferably with a specialization in seaweed farming with some experiences in seaweed processing;

– A minimum of 5 years practical experience in the field of seaweed

Industry;

Formal training in seaweed farming, post-harvest and

processing; Thorough understanding of seaweed context in Indonesia;

and experience working with government institutions and international

or non-governmental organizations supporting sustainability work in the

fisheries sector; Familiarity with good farming practices; Strong

communication skills, and ability to liaise with various stakeholders,

including government officials

– Languages: Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia
